President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested a stronger security response in parts of Kaduna State after a tragic attack on Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward of Kauru local government area, which resulted in the deaths of around 30 residents.
This order came after gunmen reportedly raided the community early on Monday, killing men, women, and children, while also burning several homes.
In a statement issued yesterday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu condemned the assault as a barbaric and cowardly act of violence against innocent people. He promised that those responsible for the attack would face justice.
He noted that the attackers were trying to disrupt the relative peace and improved security that Kaduna State has experienced lately but reassured Nigerians that these attempts would fail. “I have instructed the Armed Forces, police, and relevant intelligence agencies to step up operations in the affected areas to quickly track down those responsible and restore normalcy to the region”, said the President.
Tinubu emphasised his government’s dedication to enhancing the country’s security system by improving infrastructure, providing better equipment for security forces, and working hard to break down criminal networks nationwide. He also urged people in affected communities to help security agencies by sharing reliable and timely information that could help them respond quickly to future threats.
The President expressed his sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack, as well as to Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, the state government, and the residents of Kaduna State. He assured the state government that the Federal Government will keep collaborating with security agencies to safeguard lives and property while preventing similar attacks from happening again.
The statement highlighted the administration’s commitment to tackling violent crimes throughout the country and ensuring that those who commit attacks on innocent people are held accountable under the law.
